Twenty eight KyU students, and two faculty were among the hundreds of guests that were invited by US Embassy to attend President Barack Obama’s speech at Kasarani Sports ground, Nairobi on Sunday July 26, 2015.
This was a historic occasion for KyU and especially for the students and faculty that listened to the inspiring speech of President Barack Obama. KyU management is sincerely grateful to US Embassy for inviting us to the gracious event.

‘HONGERA KyU’
The United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO) and the overseas Human resource and Industry Development Association (HIDA) have picked Ms. Faith Kiwiri, the C.o.D department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at KyU for Ultra-low Carbon emission technology training in Tokyo Japan.
KyU is proud that Ms. Kiwiri was competitively selected from among representatives from other universities to represent Kenya in the programme.
The two week training, sponsored by the overseas human resource and industry development targets training of Kenyan and Ethiopian national experts on ultra-low Head Micro Hydro Power technology (ULNE) on a technology transfer program aimed at promoting use of Ultra-low Head Micro-hydro power (ULIF-MIP) technology for productive uses in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Ms. Kiwiri will on return from Japan train trainers for operationalization of the Mwea irrigation pilot site in Kirinyaga County and elsewhere in the republic of Kenya as appropriate.
KyU students held on Tuesday April 7, 2015 prayers for their fallen comrades of Garissa University College.
The students held candles and remained calm through the prayers. The prayers held in the University Main Hall starting 4.30 pm had representation from University Management.
