The KyU drama club displayed exceptional performance at the just concluded National Drama Festivals held at KAAGA BOYS in MERU COUNTY on APRIL; 5 to 8, 2016.

Our team emerged best overall and was awarded a trophy for Choral Verse. We also had best items depicting Vision 2030 and National Values for a Cohesive Kenya.  We were second best in Tragedy Play.

 The office of the Principal KyU and that of the Deputy Principal, ARSA join the entire KyU family in congratulating our teams. Well done KyU teams; well done KyU.

Technoserve Kenya launched on March 17, 2016, at Kirinyaga University, School of Business and Economics, the Phase II of African Young Agripreneurship Program.

The workshop steered by officials from Technoserve Kenya in collaboration with the faculty from School of Business and Economics involved training of ten (10) fourth (4th) year Bachelor of Commerce students each of whom will be attached to selected entrepreneurs in Kirinyaga County for one month internship in Dairy farming, Horticulture, Crop/Animal husbandry, Veterinary Services, Poultry Farming, Agrovet services, Animal Feeds production and value addition to agricultural and veterinary produce.

Students will be expected to develop within one month, viable business plans for funding.

The program which is aimed at developing technical and business skills focusing on youth aged 18 – 35 years and targeting poverty reduction in Kenya, Ghana and South Africa is currently working in partnership with four Universities in Kenya namely, Kirinyaga University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture Technology, Dedan Kimathi University of Science and Technology and Maasai Mara University.

Prof. Mary Ndungu, the Principal, KyU has been recognized for the second time on ‘researchgate’ a global network of scientists that share research concepts and outcomes on a peer review platform through discussions, citations and collaboration.

The group highlights achievements of and commends researchers whose findings generate sizeable interest and citations by peers working in related disciplines. Professor Ndung’u whose research output is currently on the ‘peer spotlight’ and had  attracted atleast 300 citations by November 12, 2015 has now reached the 600 citations mark by March 11, 2016 and received a second recogntion for her recent contributions in the discipline of Organic Chemistry and applications to humankind. The Deputy Principal ARSA and the entire KyU family congratulate Professor Ndug’u on this achievement.

The office of Deputy Principal ARSA wishes to announce that Cynthia Ogali and Loise Atieno from department of Architecture and Building Sciences, Kirinyaga University have gained admission to prestigious Universities in Europe.

Cynthia has received admission to a Master of Science program in Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology at Keele University in United Kingdom while Loise has received admission to a Master of Science degree program in Urban Management and Development at the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies at Erasmus university of Rotterdam, Netherlands.
