Prof. Mary Ndung’u, Vice Chancellor of Kirinyaga University, presided as the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony of the KENET Cybersecurity In-Person Training held at Abai Lodge, Kirinyaga, on Monday, February 23 through Friday, February 27, 2026.
Kirinyaga University will be hosting Ms. Maja Bubat a visiting postgraduate midwifery student from Justus Liebig University of Giessen, Germany, highlighting the institution’s growing global academic partnerships and commitment to international collaboration.
The student will take a four week academic visit and clinical placement at the School of Health Science commencing on March 9, 2026. Her stay at KyU will present opportunity for knowledge sharing and cross cultural learning between the two universities. This exchange program enhances global exposure for students and faculty, promotes sharing of best practices in KyU’s Health Sciences Education and Clinical training. This collaboration reflects Kirinyaga University’s strategic focus on internationalization and her dedication to offering student experiences that extend beyond National borders. The School of Health Sciences continues to position itself as a hub for academic excellence and practical training, attracting partnerships that enrich learning and foster research cooperation. Hosting international scholars and students enhances the University’s academic profile while contributing to global conversations in Health Education and practice.
On 24th June 2021, Kirinyaga University, situated in Kirinyaga County, marked a significant milestone in its academic journey with the unveiling of the Kilele Tuition Block — a modern, state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance teaching and learning.
Kirinyaga University recently held a colorful and vibrant Cultural Week led by the Vice-Chancellor, Mary Ndung'u. The event brought together students, staff, and invited guests in a celebration of cultural diversity, unity, and heritage, reinforcing the University’s commitment to holistic education and national cohesion. The festival was also graced by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic, Research, and Student Affairs (ARSA), Prof. Charles O. A. Omwandho, and the Dean of Students, Rev. Allan Maina, whose office played a pivotal role in coordinating student participation and ensuring smooth execution of the event.

Kirinyaga University dazzles in Chess, Darts, Floorball, Pool, and Athletics at South Eastern Kenya University from 31st Jan – 1st Feb 2026, showcasing skill and determination. Both Men’s and Women’s Chess teams finished 2nd overall, qualifying for the KUSF National Championships. The Women’s Floorball team finished 2nd and the Men’s 3rd, earning spots at the KUSF National Championships. Despite challenging matches, the Darts and Pool teams gained valuable exposure to strengthen skills and competitive confidence.
