KyU performed marvelously well at the National Drama Festivals held at Kibabii University, April 3 – 13, 2019. Our team was ranked third overall in Mime and stand Up comedy and awarded a trophy on second Runners Up Mime.

Prof. Mary Ndung’u, the Vice Chancellor, KyU has been recognized by ‘Research gate’, a global network of scientists that share research concepts and outcomes on a peer review platform, through discussions, citations and collaborations. The group highlights achievements of and commends researchers whose findings generate sizeable interest and citations by peers working in related disciplines. Professor Ndung’u’s articles titled “Potential of Desert Locust Schistocerca Gregaria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) as an Unconventional Source of Dietary and Therapeutic Sterols” currently on the “peer review spotlight” has now reached 200 reads’ threshold; a significant achievement in deed.

KyU Wildlife Club participated in a clean-up exercise at Kutus Town on November 24, 2018.
The team cleaned Open Air Market (Mjini) and its surrounding environment under the supervision of the County Environment Officers in-charge of the Public Health and Sanitation. The team thereafter cleaned Kutus main stage and the street up to Kianyaga junction.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor KyU wishes to announce that Kirinyaga University has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Newcastle Australia.
The MoU dated November 1, 2018 will open opportunities for faculty and students of the two institutions to participate in joint programs for study and research, conferences, seminars and workshops. The two institutions will also engage in staff and students' exchange besides capacity building for Kirinyaga University’s faculty and professional staff in priority training areas.
The University of Newcastle ranked among the top 1% Universities globally has strong background in Engineering Sciences and Architecture, Education, Business and Law, Health Sciences including Medicine, Nursing, Behavioral Sciences in relation to Medicine, Pure and Applied Sciences as well as other humanities.
KyU is proud to be part of this memorandum and hopes to reap maximum benefits therefrom.
