Brian Karanja, a Computer Science student from Kirinyaga University led a team dubbed CTRL+SHIFT+WIN to emerge position 1 of 31 at the NRF Hackathon 2024 held at Safari Park hotel on June 6-7, 2024.
The team including one student from Dedan Kimathi and another from Riara University received a combined cash reward of Ksh. 600,000/- and a laptop computer for each. The students spent 48hour hacking challenge on web security, network security and cryptography among other challenges.
